Hotel Tech Trends 2026
Every year there’s a new list of hotel technology trends.
Most focus on what’s possible. More interesting is what’s actually happening.
Here are 4 changes we’re seeing in conversations with hotel owners.

AI Agents: The Voice Revolution is First
We hear a lot about AI.
But full AI deployments are still uncommon. Most hotel owners are interested, but they want to see a clear return.
Voice AI is one area getting real interest.
It can answer calls, handle simple enquiries, and provide after-hours coverage without adding more work for staff.
That’s a much easier business case than some of the bigger AI ideas.
The PABX Needs to Retire
Guests don’t use room phones like they used to. Most have a mobile in their pocket.
Some hotels still keep room phones for reception, bookings, or emergencies. Others are removing them altogether.

CCTV: Change from being Reactive to Proactive
Traditionally, CCTV was something you checked after an incident.
Something happens. Someone asks for the footage. Then someone spends an hour finding the right clip.
That’s changing.
Better cameras and smarter systems can now detect events, send alerts, track movement and make footage much faster to search.
Add insurance, compliance and risk requirements, and CCTV is becoming more of an active tool rather than just a recording system.

Wi-Fi Demand Continues to Grow
Guest expectations keep going up. So does network demand.
More streaming. More 4K. More connected devices. More smart TVs.
It all adds load
A Wi-Fi system installed five or six years ago might still be working, but that doesn’t mean it’s keeping up.
We’re seeing more hotels upgrade Wi-Fi and internet simply to maintain the level of service guests now expect.
Not necessarily to offer more.
It's just to keep up.
What's your opinion?
That's what I'm seeing in the industry so far, but I'd love to hear from you. Let us know your experience in the comments.
